Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Gosh - 5 weeks since my last post! I was away for some of that time, but I have been working on the lights and valance for the layout - photos in due course. I've also been working on the new loco 'Ettie' First thing I did was strip the chassis right down and wash the block and wheels on white spiri...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Many thanks for the kind comments, chaps - Les, I'm not sure anyone would want my quirky ideas on their layout ... Many thanks for all the likes, folks - but beware, you are only encouraging me ... Anyway, having finished 'Legger' Lamb, I had a look in my bodybitz box and found: Henry Ford's overcoa...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Right, the last of the three visitor-hindered projects is complete. This is another bitza job, made from body parts various - in this case the legs are from another Italeri driver, and the upper body and head from the ICM Henry Ford kit ... http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/bilcor/frankenstei...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Well, the visitors have gone - we had a sit-down lunch for 16 on Easter Monday! - and the bits of time I managed to escape have started to bear fruit. First to finish is a sitting figure. I thought I would use up some of the bits and pieces in Igor's store before they start to smell too badly. This ...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Many thanks Peter. Now, in between fiddling with figures and dreaming up ever more improbable stories about B'ger 'All I've been working on those trees. After a spray with the GWR Loco Green I tried various adhesives for the leaves. Finally, I used 3M Spray Mount, but that didn't hold the leaves too...

That's looking very good, Grum. As Chris says, the street merging into the backscene is very effective, and the level of detail is perfect.

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

CORRECTION ! CORRECTION ! CORRECTION ! The Reverend Duncan Donats has pointed out a corrigendum (or erratum) in the Berger Hall back-story I published in post # 52 of this saga. In that post I said that he was granted the living of the Church of St Lawrence in the village of Much Bowsting. He asks m...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

A bit more experimentation. I thought that the contrast between the GWR Loco Green paint that the tree was sprayed with and the leaves was too marked, so I took another of the trees as it arrived, and applied the Layering Spray and leaves to that ... http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/bilcor/f...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Mlle Étoil is quite disgusted at the Colonel’s behaviour with Su B. Way. She has come to take his interest in her for granted, despite his obsession with her date of birth – indeed, she has enjoyed teasing him with hints and herrings rouge about it. But now she feels very neglected. And even worse i...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Thanks Peter - I might have to try that! I've had a trial with the Layering Spray, with rather better results ... http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/bilcor/first20leaves2002-crop_zpszkautlxk.jpg Certainly, more leaves have stuck, and the retention seems better. Well, my first attempt at putting leafage on one of the trees hasn't gone well ... http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/bilcor/first%20leaves-crop_zpsaoywk5v4.jpg I used L'Oriel Extra Hold hairspray, but it seemed to lose it's adhesiveness very quickly, so it didn't catch much leaf scattered ove...

Re: In A Bit Of Estate

Many thanks, Peter - the 'goings-on' are definitely part of the fun, and the stories pop into my head in the periods while glue/paint/varnish is drying. I have a little store ready for some suitable occasion - some of them are quite scandalous ... Meanwhile, I've had a trial at spraying the trees da...

Colonel Sanders is very taken with the little American songstress, and insists on escorting her everywhere around the estate. He regales her with stories of his exploits fighting the Fuzzy Wuzzies, and has quite neglected his duty of keeping an eye on Graf Heinz von Pitze-Hütt. For her part, Su B. W...
