The cars appear to be O & K or Gregg ... at least that is what they likely were before the years and rebuilds/rework took their toll.

Thanks for the kind words guys. FWIW The upper two images with the Modeling Paste are 1/48 scale, and the lower two are 1/72 scale.....they are unfortunately the only examples I had readily at hand, but the techniques do work in larger scales, in the technique od softening/stippling the styrene one ...

Thanks guys. If you want to have a bit more grit or texture (esp. at the broken edges), you can also try adding very fine dust/dirt (like ground Chinchillaas) to the modeling paste.
