Re: Good-bye GerryB

Like others, I have been away from the forum for a while. Just catching up today when I read this sad news. Gerry was such an inspiration through his modelling and I hope that in time, his family can take some consolation from the esteem in which he was held by so many people who never even met him.

Early issues of Narrow Gauge Review for sale on eBay.

Hi, I have reluctantly decided to part with my collection of Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review via eBay. I have issues 1 - 5 listed at the moment including the very difficult to find Issue Four. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Narrow-Gauge-And-Industrial-Railway-Modelling-Review-VERY-RA...

That is such a good representation of the original cartoon. I can't find anything online, but would like to find out more about the builder and his other work.

Pierre,

Thanks for your interest and sorry for not replying sooner. I don't post very often but I visit regularly and read everything.
I still managed to miss your question.

Thanks Gerry for providing the info about the Roco track.

The baseboard is 53cm x 53cm.

World War One Narrow Gauge on BBC

The recent BBC TV programme "Teenage Tommies" had 3 or 4 pieces of footage of WW1 narrow gauge trench railways. The whole programme is also a very interesting story about some of the underage boys who fought in the war. The programme was shown on BBC 2 on Tuesday November 11th and should b...

Adam,

This photo from Flickr give a step by step guide to making birds the Pendon way. If they can do it in 1/76, it should work in 1/24

Adam, Cheap diamond plate can be found in the supermarket. Some items such as doughnuts in the Tesco bakery come in clear plastic boxes. If you have a bit of a browse and look at the underside of the box, you will find that some have a section that makes very acceptable diamond plate. This is a very...

Adam,

This is great layout, full of character.

Recently I have been thinking about building another GN15 layout. It is the ability to add details like individual 'apples' that really appeals to me.

Can you give us some dimensions of the layout please?

That's a really good S-B-S. I want to build some pallets now, even though I don't have any use for them.

I'm not sure that I agree that a build thread that ends half completed is not worth while. Anything which shows the process of building a model can provide information and inspiration to others. A build thread often leads to discussions between members and this can help the original poster to improv...

I will start a thread soon with pictures. I had the same idea as you, the swing bridge will be an "L" shape baseboard to take the track through 90 degrees. The Clapham Junction cartoon is a favourite of mine with the padlocked crossing gates and chickens wandering around. I might model it ...

Sorry, but Dilligaf Quay has been abandoned. I took a break & started building a quick GN15 pizza layout in order to get something running quickly. The pizza, ‘’Don't Feed The Hippos’’, can be seen on this thread - http://forum.gn15.info/viewtopic.php?p=104868&highlight=#104868 After buildin...

Very nice. I think that the icicles work really well. I am currently making a christmas theme model (not railway related and only 4mm scale) and was planning to use the baking soda / bicarb method. I found the details on this site - http://www.missing-lynx.com/articles/other/create_snow_cheehongahn....

I am currently building a 7mm Peter Barnfield ish loco using a Thomas chassis that I have had for a few years. I was originally going to use one of my stash of 0-4-0 chassis for this loco. But when I tested them all, I also tested the Thomas chassis and it was the slowest and quietest of them all. J...
