Experiments with tippers

I've been on the lookout for tippers for some time, and can't quite find anything that suits what I'm after. So, I decided to see what I could bodge together, and ended up (so far) with this for the tipper body: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4386/35623021833_1577639a85_c.jpg 2017-08-07 20.23.40 by ...

Re: Variant of the Carl Arendt SAP Line

Nearly two years since this one say the light of day, which is a sad state of affairs. However, back on track now, and I'm going to push on and finish it for hopefully inclusion in next years NDMRS show. Re: New Layout in the design phase

Hi John,

That looks good - plenty of operating potential, lots of bits to detail, and an interesting theme.

I'm looking forward to seeing this develop.

Well done, Bill, great to see your work getting the recognition it rightly deserves.

If I ever make it across the Irish Sea to an exhibition I'll be sure to say "hello".

Re: New Layout in the design phase

Hello John, and welcome to the Gnatterbox. My first thought on reading your post was "do you have any depth to play with"? In a long, narrow space like that, I'd be thinking of a mine entrance at one end (open at the back end so you can load / unload cars with timber / miners / supplies in...

Lovely job, otherDoc - that will look very well when finished.

Agreed re weight, though. More is always better in my book.

Re: Fireless crane

Not a whole lot more done as I've been busy with the wiring for Huge Tools, but I did make the steam charging bits for the front of the pressure vessel, using bits from the OO Ratio "oil tanks" kit and the Airfix / Dapol turntable kit. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4300/35153838563_3ef085...

Tank wagon kitbash

I've been using bits and pieces from the Ratio OO "oil tanks" kit for the fireless crane described elsewhere here, and in a bit of a light bulb moment realised that I've also the makings of two tank wagons on the bench :D So, after some measurements, it appears that a short Hornby wagon ch...

I love the dragons, they really set the locomotive off to a T. Are you going for a Steampunk theme?

That looks fine to me as well. As otherDoc says, paint it to look battered, give the driver a cushion and it will do very well tootling round with a wagon or two.

Those Hornby 0-4-0 chassis run really well if you add loads of weight. I've two under way at present.
