Re: (F) Mr. Chip's Potato Farm (1:12 Micro Layout)

I've done more painting then modelling in the last couple of years. Though I've been lurking on here now...

All is well, glad to make contact with old friends. I've posted a link to my youtube channel, showing Mr Chips- Another Day. For those ...

Hi Bob,

The layout is fantastic! You've certainly captured that charm. The different elements such as the key side, the variety of buildings and the topography really make for a truely great stage for telling stories with your modelling talents. Top stuff chap 8)

I'll paint the shelves some more in time as well as play with the level of sag, when pots are installed. I've painted the tiled roof with the first layer of sandy brown, soon to be worked up with grey tones. I used water and pva applied tissue to establish a texture on the tiles: http://i164.photobu...

A weekend update, I've been busy chipping away at the pottery area: Here I'm working on the floor and wall surfaces for the pottery storage area, using a mix of tissue, acrylic, poster paints, water, pva and water: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u22/daviddoubleu/DSCN1999.jpg http://i164.photobuc...

Here I'm adding a texture to the old mud walls with tissue, pva, water and raw umber poster paint. I may add a layer of plaster too: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u22/daviddoubleu/DSCN1986.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u22/daviddoubleu/DSCN1985.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u2...

Wow Paul! Thanks a lot for posting the pics. Very useful indeed. Full of lots interesting details that I can draw inspiration and ideas from. As for the overall look of the layout, I'm going for a rural Oriental/ Eastern Chinese theme. The main pottery structures will represent mud bricks and other ...

Here's some more pics showing a little more progress. Not really any plans for this critter ... a couple of sketches somewhere. I kind of just build a simple frame around the chassis, then build up from this. I take a lot of references from pics of locos etc. I wanted to give the driver a little mor...

After a happy weekend of pottering, here's where I'm at: This is the the overall shot of the layout showing the very simple track plan, using the few bendy bits that remain from my modest stockpile of Fleischmann sectional track. Plus the start of a building that is left on my shelf for another proj...

(F) Pottery Pottering (1:12 Micro Layout)

Hi Chaps, I've got the modelling bug again. I'm using a layout that was originally intended for a Gn15 project that didn't quite get going. I hope this one fares better. When working on the "Mr. Chip's Potato Farm" layout I used some small ceramic pots from the craft store to decorate the ...
