Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I have made a start re-doing all the photographs but it is taking much longer than I expected it to. In fact it means updating four different sites all done at different times. Still I'm getting there slowly all the most recent on all four have now been done. The older pictures are taking longer to ...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Thanks for that Mick, I too have all my original photos on a hard disc, on cd’s and a memory stick. It just means uploading everything again then posting it all on four different sites.
Personally I get on alright with Flickr so am staying with it.

Kind regards Peter M

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

It seems the site that I uploaded my photographs on postimage.org is currently not working, so all my images have gone. I have had my suspicions for some time and recently started using Flickr instead. This is the third time this has happened to me and if Flickr folds up I will not be posting any mo...

A couple of films well worth a look.

I have found a couple of videos, that are not railway related but worth a look. They feature the river Thames which I remember as a young lad with much affection. The river was so busy in those far off days with tugs and lighters and larger ships down river in the dock area. I was fascinated by the ...

A film worth a look

Peter M

Here is something I have just happened upon and well worth a look.

Ffestiniog Railway Quirks and Curiosities II on you tube

Some of the devices featured would not look out of place down on the farm.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Thanks for the link Southpier, I have found out a little more about the device from a later book on the potato railways of Lincolnshire. It says in the caption that a petrol engine device collects produce from the fields. The device was actually powered by steam using a flash steam boiler. It was ma...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Sorry about that Chris, a senior moment I think. It's a you tube film.

Try Huntleyarchives.co then Film 11911 in the search. It should then work.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

narrow gauge railways 1930's film 11911

This excellent little film was posted on another forum and is well worth a look.
It gives a real flavour of what actually went on on one of the larger farms.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I am pleased to say that I am once more back on the web. I have got rid of the BT special deal, about £40 pounds plus per month for 12gb per month, this includes the line charge and then it was only working 50% of the time. Now I am with Vodaphone which is high speed unlimited, with no line charge a...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

This will be my last post on this thread. After a great deal of thought I have decided to give up my internet connection. I live in a tiny village and the use of aluminum wire in telephone system causes all sorts of problems. Of late as the cost has gone up the service I receive has got worse, being...

Re: 1/32 scale

Kevin,
I have never sold a layout, because I'm pretty sure I would regret it.
All my old HO layouts have been broken up, the buildings and rolling stock kept but the rest went to the tip.

Very nice layout Kevin.
Lovely scale to work in 1/32, I'm surprised more people don't.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

DCR fan,

You are right of course there should just be holes were the studs came through.
The layout has been exhibited over sixty times and had thousands of hits on this site, but you are the only one to notice this.
Sadly there is no prize for pointing out my mistake.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I have kindly been given permission to post some of the superb photographs of Two Sisters Farm taken by Chris Nevard for Model Rail magazine. He came up last year to take the photos which appear in the July issue of Model Rail magazine no 223. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/783/39687193990_37c988bfd...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I have just been into the local branch of W H Smith and bought the July Issue of Model Rail magazine.

I'm pleased to say that the Two Sisters Farm article that they have printed runs to nine pages.
The pictures Chris Nevard took look really good I am really pleased.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Thanks for the heads up Simon. This is the first I've heard about it. Chris Nevard came up last June and took a load of photographs of the layout in our conservatory. He subsequently sent me a CD of the photographs he took, which I must say rather flattered the layout. I wrote a piece about it earli...
