Re: Crundells Estate

Progess has slowed a little while I work on some of the more mundane parts of the project. I've been making end panels for transporting the layout from some offcuts of OSB - I ran out of wing nuts and washers so need to go out and get some. There will be strap handles on the end for ease of lifting....

Re: Crundells Estate

Progress continues slowly. I've installed lighting in the shed and workshop and started detailing these areas. Got some atmospheric shots last night.

Re: Crundells Estate

A busy summer involved with holiday clubs etc has meant a lack of progress on the layout. However, the last week has seen the interior of the greenhouse finished and detailed and the garden board is now nearing completion. Re: Crundells Estate

No progress with the layout but I have been looking at the rolling stock. Having been modelling more industrial scenes, I have no passenger stock. Looking into my bits box I found a pair of Smallbrook inside frame chassis and decided to have a shot at something along the lines of Heywoods 4x2 coach ...

Re: Crundells Estate

Thanks for all the positive support and comments, the layout is starting to get towards what I envisioned although not as fast as I'd hoped. I've been working on the garden board and now have the majority of the basic scenics done. The section between the tracks will probably be slightly overgrown w...

Re: Crundells Estate

Progress report. On the workshop board, the doors have now been fitted and the roofing complete. I was having problems with my usual corrugated foil for the roofing but I found a supplier that does 1/32 corrugated plastic roofing at a reasonable price (Masons Attic MAS001). Re: MacFeegles Distillery

Nearly 5 years since it's last exhibition, MacFeegeles distillery is no more :( I had put the layout up for sale and there were a few enquiries about it but when it was removed from storage and looked at closely it wasn't in as good condition as I'd thought. A couple of Scottish winters in an unheat...

Thanks to those who expressed an interest in the layout.

Layout for sale - Macfeegles Distillery

Hi Folks, Due to the fact I am running out of space in my workshop I am offering up Macfeegles distillery for sale. I am offering only the basic layout as seen in the photos below, none of the removable details are included. Also not included is the controller/power supply although the control panel...

Re: Crundells Estate

Much progress has occurred :D The layout has been set up in full and mostly works (1 duff point motor to replace and the board interconnects to be made). Crundells_010418_01.JPG Much brick stencilling has occurred with the garden walls beginning to take shape. Caping stones are a modified D-shape wo...

Re: Crundells Estate

Progress is always slow in February as I'm involved in organising Model Rail Scotland but some progress has happened. I've mocked up the garden walls and got a greenhouse from Petite Properties (I asked for 3 but they only had 1 left in stock). Landscaping beyond the walls has been started and I now...

Re: Crundells Estate

I've knuckled down the last week or two and got all of the track laid and the wiring done. I've also worked out how the scenery is going to work. The two new boards are the garden board which will be inside the walls of the estate with some lean-to greenhouses and a siding : Crundells_270118_03.jpg ...

Re: Crundells Estate

Thanks Peter, I've tried doing scenery with just polystyrene in the past and it works fine for a static layout but bits tend to break away in transport and you end up with a white patch. Covering it in newspaper gives a hard shell that resists damage a little although the edges of the newspaper piec...

Re: Crundells Estate

More progress. The next board (to the right of the shed board) is going through a brown phase. Hillside built up from polystyrene sheet covered in newspaper and PVA then painted brown. Still not completely happy with the contours, especially in the cutting, but getting there. Crundells_301117_0001.J...

I'm still modelling Gn15 with a new layout well under construction and doing modelling demonstrations at shows in Scotland every few months (Falkirk this coming weekend)

Re: Crundells Estate

Progress is continuing but much more slowly than I'd like. The "shed" board now has all of the buildings in place and the basic scenery done. I still need to sort the roofs, fit the doors and do some detailing. DSCF5430.JPG DSCF5431.JPG I've also made a start on the next board by carrying ...

Wonderfully whimsical - feels a little like Ivor the Engine as pencil drawings.

Thanks for sharing.

For a driver - tamiya do a 1/14th scale driver figure as a kit which might suit : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TAMIYA-RC-Tractor-Truck-Driver-Figure-1-14-Assembly-Kit-56536-/401381965254?hash=item5d743abdc6:g:75EAAOSwENpZjIRF Also, keep an eye out in charity/thrift shops for kids toys to convert - a figur...

Re: Crundells Estate

Due to family visiting, Crundells was stored away for a few weeks but I've dug it out again and made some progress. The buildings have had their main colours painted and the start of weathering applied. I've been experimenting with Vallejo Air paints with the airbrush and it looks pretty good. Most ...

Re: Crundells Estate

Slow progress but progress none the less. The mock up buildings have been replaced by their actual counterparts. The shed is artist mounting board with slaters embossed plasticard either side while the big building is mounting board and plasticard with a wooden supporting frame of 8mm stripwood. I'v...

Re: Crundells Estate

Managed some progress. I've built up some of the hills and banks using polystyrene cut with a hot wire, newspaper and PVA glue. It's then had a quick coat of brown emulsion to see how it looks. I've also started mocking the buildings up from foam board - good thing I did as the shed height, to scale...

Re: Crundells Estate

I actually started this a few weeks ago so the initial progress might seem fast. I built up the levels for the shed board using plywood, topped with cork and laid track. The point motors have been fitted and the wiring droppers installed. Track is Peco 0-16.5 with a couple of Code 83 inspection pits...

Crundells Estate

I know estate railways are a fashionable around here at the moment and here's another one :D I started planning this a few years ago when I saw a photo of the shed at Duffield Bank and the multi level aspect appealed so I've been picking up bits and pieces towards this. The big impetus was the acqui...
