Re: 3D Software

I think they might have meant that you cant directly modify a STL that you import into tinkercad perhaps, because you can certainly re-visit anything that you've done yourself from scratch in it. Sadly we didn't, only realised when I got back home that you were from here as well. Also we had a niece in tow so no stopping allowed for more than 30 seconds at each stand :)

Re: 3D Software

Try tinkercad as a very simple entry point. It's web based and so students can carry on at home. You can progress then to more advanced options later that require installing software etc. The stl's it produces can be used in slicers etc to make 3d models.

Re: Solva loco

Thanks Bilco, agree with the rust. I'm going to try that maskol and paint method and then peel it off to get some bigger rust spots on the front! Cab controls next and painted solder wire and a spotlight should see it finished.

Re: Solva loco

Look back on Bilco's build I added some hinges, and also as this sits a little high, adding a skirt to hide some of the chassis. Need a seat and a charging plug next before moving onto mark 2 !

Re: Solva loco

I've left a couple in by accident and the wooden stems go soft :) I think the sludge from the bottom might be OK for general grime, but my sludge is mainly black or grey, not orange and yellow. It's still early days with these rust washes, and I've probably gone a bit overboard and applied too much....
