Re: Thank you, Photobucket !!!

I have been trying to research a vehicle model project. Google identified lots of hits across numerous websites unfortunately when I go to them all the pictures the pictures have been Photobucketed. Just makes you realise just how many photos they were hosting.

You really need to have a word with that mechanic. He has been under the back of that ute for some years. I think he is fast asleep

Re: Dam Construction 1930 - 1932

Geoff, It is a cold and wet weekend, a good excuse to do some modelling :D And I cheated by starting yesterday as I've taken a long weekend off. Unfortunately while it is 'G' modelling it is not 'n15" - 1/35th scale Rhodesian Garratt. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4315/35078232134_af260e30b9_z...

Re: Under the Dome

Just goes to prove there is nothing under the sun.

I've been watching this space diorama growing and think a piece of train track sticking out of the dust would really get people guessing.

Under the Dome

Gnatterbox used to fairly regularly have challenge builds. How about this suggestion. I recently purchased a shower dome which has as a 600mm diameter. Naturally as a modeller I looked at it and wondered what else it could be used for: -display cover for a 1/48th Dakota. No unfortunately the tail fi...

Re: Thank you, Photobucket !!!

On the other hand, I think we are being selfish and naive if we expected photobucket to serve up someone's photos for free and forever, even when that person is dead.

Well that is what the advertised their service as.

Re: Thank you, Photobucket !!!

One of the groups I'm on believed itself to be the greatest repository of photos and history of Rhodesia. I just checked and the dreaded new logo has started replacing photos from some contributers. The real shame is several of the prolific posters have since died so I assume once their Photobucket ...

Re: Thank you, Photobucket !!!

I'm confused. I have checked my Photobucket hosted pictures on several groups and can still see them all. I guess it is because my Photobucket free hosting allowance has not been exceeded? The revised terms of reference do offer cheaper payment options but I will not be taking them up as I have ceas...

Perhaps we realise our tiny steam and internal combustion locos would not have the capacity to travel long distances due to limited bunker/fuel tank size :D

You copied and interpreted scenes and track plans off photographs of the the real thing. He presumably copied and interpreted photographs of your layout.

I'd be flattered.

Re: Why can't sellers get the scale correct?

I gave up on scale and now always ask them to measure the object. Even the packaging is wrong many times. But, even that fails if the seller can't read a measuring stick. It would help if the US got with the rest of the world and went metric so were were all on the same measurements:twisted:...

Re: Why can't sellers get the scale correct?

Similar story, on another group I belong to, recently a member identified a diecast ute (pickup) that matched the theme we model and advertised in numerous locations as 1/36 scale. So two of us purchased second hand copies on Ebay. Darn, although clearly marked by Corgi as 1/36 scale, a check with a...

Re: Geoff Potter's Gn15 2015 challenge layout

Thank you Les, you really are very kind. I am off to the Australian Narrow Gauge Convention in Geelong next Easter. I am taking a display that consists of 3 micros, this one, Deer Valley Vegetables (APA Box layout in On18) and a third, as yet unbuilt 1/35n2 layout. I wracked my brain to try and com...
