Re: Factory Layout v2

Super.
What adhesive did you use for the plastic to milk bottle? I have found it difficult to glue plastic milk bottle material neatly.

Safely on board http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/Dscn2057_zpstyyrzadi.jpg Fortunately Stokes the driver has to slow down to pass the Alstormeria which pleases Cuthbert Higgingbottom because his newspaper doesn't get as messed up at the more sedate speed. http://i1289.photobucket.com...

Plasticard paper with scribble Sharpie and we have two gentlemen awaiting 8.30 to the city. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/Dscn2046_zpsibljhxv6.jpg Must be a Monday morning because one is suffering from the night before. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/Dscn2045_z...

Same paint scheme http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/Dscn2014_zpscwav1hnf.jpg These are dummy lights on the fringe as I am going to fit the light strip to underside of the canopy, hopefully to illuminate the passengers instead of the surrounding countryside this time. http://i1289.pho...

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Next one is well under way now. Started with piece of paper to get the profile and size I wanted to fit the flatbed, then cut out a few plasticard pieces. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/Dscn1994_zpsa06h6e21.jpg The Hon Mrs Hamilton tries out the new skip bath for size. http://i128...

Sounds like it would be worth trying. I think it could fit into the scheme very well.

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Thanks for the encouragement folks. Time to start another carriage now I have finished the garden alterations and am happy with the result. Any one want to buy a lawn mower ? I find the biggest problem with windy conditions (in the garden), is the action of the plants trying to grab Nellie's c...

A few shots with a repaired Nellie. In the background you can see some garden railway alterations in progress just before a thunderstorm stopped work. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/DSCN1969_zpsa27mri4a.jpg http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/DSCN1968_zpspbilnylo.jpg...

That is a great effect you created with the paper over foam,.....oh to be artistic one can only dream. It also amazes me how much goes on in a small space with these layouts Great stuff.

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Time to think about the lights and canopy top frill. Lights are cut from a strip of 3volt LEDs bought from the bay of fleas. Handy because you can just cut the length and number required off the strip and they will still work due to the way they are already wired onto the self adhesive strip. Power ...

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Disclaimer here :- I refuse to be held responsible for all these magnets flying around like shrapnel and sticking to things they were not intended to if your glue is weaker than the magnetic attraction :D Name plates to go on the carriage ends. I will drizzle 30 minute epoxy lettering on to these N ...

Re: Noobie to railway modelling

Thanks for the friendly welcome guys. Lots brilliant work on here. I think I will use the excuse that I will not aspire to such high standards as I will only be using the garden railway and things get damaged very easily. :D

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Trial fit of the end plates to the flat bed. I hope to make a good enough interference fit so I do not not have to glue the carriage part to the flatbed. The end plates will be glued to the seat box of course. Paul http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b513/sooty100/DSCN1944_zpsnbub4itt.jpg

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Top meets bottom. The seat box is laminated with a 1 white piece and 1 black piece of card, is easier for me to see if I have aligned them correctly that way. The carbon tubes are left short of the canopy and short of the bottom of the seat box to enable wires to pass through the tubes for the light...

Re: Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Thanks for the support folks. The magnet idea came about because driver "Firestone" leant out of Nellie as he passed over Perriwinkle Points and got decapitated. His head must be in the perriwinkle somewhere but I never found it. On losing his head his body jammed up against the Jasmine ca...

Emett style carriage on Smallbrook flatbed

Hello all I am a total noob at this lark so be gentle with me. I am trying to build a semi-open type manrider carriage from the Smallbrook flatbed kit. I do not have any railway in the house so this is to be pulled by my "Nellie" on the small garden railway I built last year. I fitted smal...

Noobie to railway modelling

A quick hello from an ex-r/c aircraft modeller from the midlands UK. I built a small garden railway last year using peco nickel silver code 100 track, it is just a double track around the edge of my small lawn. It is my first foray into railway modelling and I have bought a few items from Smallbrook...
