Re: Pepper 7 Steve Bennett

The above sadly ignores my discussion with Steve at a show and the statement I made about that in this thread and on other related forums.

Please guys, read what I’ve written and follow the advice.

Thanks.

Hi Gerald,

Your first suggestion

1/16n10¼”

(Damn, but it’s not easy to get the ¼” to show properly!)

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

A last note for now:

Whatever we choose to call this scale/gauge combo Si Harris, aka Modelearth, is definitely bent on offering some wagons and a loco at some stage next year.

Now, if we can also persuade Smallbrook Studios to pick their idea of doing a 1/12 Tinkerbell...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

You are quite right Jon. The ‘conversation has moved on a bit elsewhere. My current favoured thought is 1/12n7¼ Since, at least in the railway modelling world, the scale is normally referred to as 1/12 rather than, say, 1”. n is used quite happily all over to refer to narrow gauge, as in our own dea...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

Another experiment, done quicker than I thought it would take:

Let's throw in a standard gauge loco, in this case a Class 08, to further enjoy the differing sizes and proportions.

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

A little playing with Photoshop. This time I've put Si Harris's loco with what I hope I will own soonish, an Accucraft Bagnall with extended height roof and chimney to convert it to 1/12 proportions and a paint job that echoes the current Talyllyn livery and lining. It just goes to show that the Bag...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

About the same time that Si Harris developed the items that started this thread, Rob Bennett created a 1/12 vignette with some 00 track and a raised 9mm (broadly equivalent to 4.25") gauge line, along with figure models of a couple of his friends.

Here it is, Rob's copyright duly acknowledged.

I've managed to track down David's Flickr account. Only 58 photos, often a bit blurry, but at least it gives you further opportunities to see how he does stuff.

And more news just in.

Including a thread introducing himself David has a dozen 1/12 scale threads over on the 7/8ths Lounge, all with pics still extent. They are listed here:

Re: (F) Mr. Chip's Potato Farm (1:12 Micro Layout)

OK you lucky, lucky people. You're just going to have to trot on over and join the 7/8ths forum as I've discovered that David also wrote up his Mr Chips layout there with one significant difference, he loaded the photos directly on to the forum rather than linking to them in Photobucket! Now that's ...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

Annie, You'll have to be patient on that front. I'm pretty sure Santa won't manage anything this year, but who knows beyond that. Meanwhile, I must have missed something over in NGRM online as it is steadily squeezing down the size of pic I can add so here's both the 10 1/4" VB pic you've just ...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

To further compare and contrast I took a photo of my wagon from the Modelearth range and Photoshopped it in with the 1/12 train. Now, this isn't a large wagon, just some 113mm long, but it shows how modestly sized the 1/12 for 00 track items are. Even with 1/12 scale you could get a very interesting...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

Here's three more photos from Si's modelling. Each is full size if you are viewing them on a large enough screen (this time, perhaps because the photos are small files, the forum software has not reduced them in size); check the dimensions in my post above. Easy to now print out if you like, especia...

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

I seem to have missed a little bit of info in my post above.

That is, the train in the photo, when seen actual size and excluding couplers, is 23.5cm long.

There, now you can enjoy it even more. :D

Re: Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

Hi Gerald,

According to Si:

‘The loco was originally built around a Lima chassis, I upgraded it prior to
painting with a Tenshodo spud 34mm wheelbase on 14mm wheels, purchased from
Scale Link.’

Modelearth modelling: 1/12 on 00 track

Some time ago Si Harris of Modelearth built a handful of 1/12 models for 00 track, thus giving a reasonable representation of 7 1/4" gauge (actually closer to 7 3/4", but who would cavill?). He's recently painted them and loaded the resultant pics in both the 7/8ths Lounge and Narrow Gauge...

This has long been one of my favourite layouts. Actually it's probably more a diorama. I had the pleasure of seeing it back in 2010. As Steve wrote at the beginning of the thread: 'OK, I know I spend most of my time modelling, but I was determined over the holiday to model just for me, no commercial...

Still modelling Gn15 or just looking?

Hi guys, Having a little look at the numbers of Gnatterbox members still involved I found it modestly heartening that some 200 members have signed in at some stage this year. So, we might be a little quiet with regard to posts but at least there’s still interest out there. Which made me wonder, if y...
