Re: Clarabel has a new (laser-cut) dress

My kit just arrived in good condition. I should be able to get to it this weekend if all goes well. Laser cutting is superb. I will probably use the Peco chassis simply because I have one. It has a slightly shorter wheelbase than Clarabel, but that means it can traverse small radius curves.

Re: Clarabel has a new (laser-cut) dress

This is wonderful as there are few to none similar models. Yes the Peco is correct. It has a shorter wheelbase compared to Clarabel, but cheaper by far.

The Peco on30 chassis is also readily available. I have one for the Tom York resin car. Dapols can also be had, but from Britain.

Will the chassis come with the kit? I don't know what a "Clarabel" is?
Colonist don't you know!

OK got it! It is an HO passenger car from the Thomas series. Probably difficult to source in the US. Are there any alternatives?

There are a lot of 1/12 dollhouse folks that also might be usable. Some are articulated.

Re: Experiments with tippers

Ha. Nice solution to the tipper problem. And to the axlebox problem. I've found a good way to make well-shaped axleboxes is to take a length of tube and glue to it a length of strip (for the top surface). Then glue paper over the two to hide the gap between the tube and the strip. Finally, cut to s...

Re: Emett Smallbrook chassis question

If these are GN15, then the distance between the wheels is probably 16mm, centered on the axle. HO track is 16.5mm gauge.
That is my belief.

1/24 scale if done in WSF becomes affordable. That other plastic is just too expensive in the larger scales.

Re: New Layout in the design phase

That looks like a very well thought out plan. Nicely done and mines allow for a lot of interesting engines and rolling stock. Go for it! Ozark Miniatures has some GN15 mining engines and ore cars as well as 1/2 inch scale mine buildings. I have no interest in that company other than being a satisfie...
