The latest bits and pieces added. These are the main items, the next job will be the gears and the piping, this I expect will take much longer to do than so far. I hope that it will look convincing even if it is not fully correct. As it will be "static" then I will put up with convincing, ...

Hi Underworld

The great thing in the UK is that most of the 1930 era steam vehicles are odd shapes!

something for Smithies

I always liked steam vehicles such as rollers and steam engines. Have got so far, ready for a good clean-up and a coat of primer. it all takes apart for painting, The main problem will be the gears and the drive. One thing about pictures is they show up problems such as size and proportion. Any stea...

Two more types of fruit, Conference pears and Golden Delicious apples. The stalks in the pears are thin plastic rod put into the putty Fimo. It melts a little in the oven but hardens again as it cools. May try some copper wire in the next batch, as it is thinner and will not melt http://i167.photobu...

Thanks fellars   Doing them is fun :!: :!: I always knew that the model-makers in my art school had the most fun in their "make believe" world. Much more interesting than the pile of forms that flooded onto my desk. I am just making up for lost time    Ralph

Had a go at a cauliflour to add to the veg products The mesh is what I used to get the texture on the cauliflour head. It was a matter of rolling the cream ball onto it to break up the smoothness http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u159/rockleybottom/califlour2.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/...

Gerry

You can use an ink jet printer instead of a laser printer, but you have to coat the finished print with a water proof spray to stop the ink running when it is soaked in water.

The laser ink will not run, so it makes it slightly easier

Hi Glen The lettering is a home-made transfer (decal). The lettering is printed on a very old black printing laser printer. This is on clear transfer papert and is stuck onto a white(ish) panel painted on the box. The boxes are given a wash or two of MIG neutral wash to take the "new" look...

Hi Michael The main material is FIMO and forms the base colour for the various veg. The detailling is then added with colour The turnips are a base cream colour, the top is then given a wash of colour and when dry , a darker cream is dry brushed on the base. Thought I would make some produce for the wholesale dock, other than booze :!: :!: Making veg in 1:24 scale is a matter of getting the over-all impression rather than too much detail. Very relaxing making hundreds of potatoes Must try some Yorkshire fruit....Rhubarb   http://i167.photobuck...

A bit of light relief I had the Italeri lorry kit which has three figures and tried to make this one less USA and more UK. He is ment to be resting his arm on a pile of boxes, but as I found this cow in the process of a re-paint I thought I should use it. Do not think that I will put a cattle dock o...

Hi Dave Thanks for the comments. I did think about adding "water" of some sort to the layout, so far I have not seen many examples that look real. I think the best example I have seen was a glass sheet above modelled lake bed. I wanted to get away from painted plaster etc, by having ...
