Ummm. Problem. The loco lift and Bachmann gas-mechs don't like each other. I'd forgotten about the outside cranks grounding on the plastic bits of the lift. :( It looks as if I'll have to either fit a proper cassette system (too much mither) or make do with crane shunting off stage. As Lescanby Moor...

I think I can squeeze it in. As long as it's stood on end for storage it should fit behind the corner section of the On30 modules, failing that there's just enough room between the top of my APA module stack and the ceiling. In fact the new micro may even fit inside the APA fiddleyard, but then I'd ...

Lescanby Moor

Back on track after straying to smaller things. That's smaller scale, not smaller layouts though. The name chosen for my return to the realm of Gn15 microlayouts is a very obvious pun, Lescanby Moor is supposedly a hill farm on the edge of the Hayfinch estate served by a branch of the estate's 15 in...

Lochside and Allt-Na-Ballt will be at the Rainhill model railway show, 2nd and 3rd March 2013. Any Gnatterboxers visiting are cordially invited to sit down for a Gnatter. Not sure which room I'm in yet but I shouldn't be hard to find, just look for the two smallest layoutswith the oddest collection ...

Doll's house figures are useful when working in 1:12, though it takes serious surgery to alter the poses of resin figures so it's easier to build a loco to fit the driver than adapt a figure to fit an existing loco. Yet to be named (ideas welcome, SWMBO is already mollified by having my 1/12 scale steamer named after her) so options are wide open. You could borrow a name from Shropshire light railway history and go for one of the classics, Hecate, Hesperus, Morous, Pyramus, or Dido . Or even Thisbe . As in (ad...

did a Google image search for Ruston locomotive and man are a bunch of them about the same proportions as that cartridge. Rusty - Diecast Ertl Thomas the Tank series - works well as a cheap and cheerful O scale Ruston. A bit long in the bonnet so I shortened one to fit a Bachmann N gauge Plymouth a...

A Freebie

I've used some of the leftovers from the Kato DD51 (donor for the double Matchbox diesel's mechanism) to make a freebie. The centre bogie, fuel tanks and part of one of the engine bonnets have been put together as an industrial sized loco. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j134/CheshireRailwayModell...

Work on the toner cartridge is progressing well, but this post is going back a bit to the loco made from a pair of Matchbox shunters. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j134/CheshireRailwayModellers/O9/100_3736_zpsf5f70624.jpg I have found a chassis which fits, though it has not been used for well ov...

The 'exhaust' on top of what will be the engine compartment is in the middle of what could be a lift-off access panel, so I'll try to keep this moulded detail when removing some lettering from the same area. The cab roof will definitely need a hatch of some sort to cover the bits where the toner is ...

How does your mind work? I know mine tends to go off on a tangent every now and then. I've just spotted an empty printer cartridge which SWMBO had instructed me to throw out months ago when we got a replacement. It didn't make it to the bin and I have a suspicion that it's not going to either. http:...

Two inches above the internal floor is correct, this works out at about three inches above table level. Any slight inaccuracies in track height can easily be compensated fo...

Looks good so far Glen.

Though there are some, mentioning no names  , who would use the miner and his short man-powered line as a self contained microlayout.
