Re: V-tipper wagons

I think the confusion with 2 or 3 gauge comes from the fact that we English use no 2 gauge as 2 inch gauge, 7/16th inch to the foot scale and number 3 gauge as 2.5 inch gauge with 17/32 or 1/2 inch scale ( live steam tend to use the latter ) Another 40cm gauge tipper https://lh3.googleusercontent.co...

Forum running costs

The ol' cash flow is flowing the wrong way again. Any donations to help with the running costs of the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Please send by paypal in any currency to donations@gn15.info

Re: info for newbies?

I'm sort of half way through trying to restore the Gn15 info site - life keeps getting in the way at the moment, probably need to try setting up a test site at home - will be quicker in the end ! My online shop is broken too and I've not got around to fixing that either ........ Somehow need to find...

Re: 3-D printed Gn15 steam locos

Yes, just the Gn15 ones

For comparison I've sold over 100 09 locos and sell 10-20 a month 009 ones between ebay and Shapeways so it's still a minority interest, but I never expected it to be anything else. Having said that it's probably more than the number of On16.5 locos I've sold.

Re: 3-D printed Gn15 steam locos

And now I have my own laser cutter ( though not currently the computer driver I need to run it :( :( ) so I can start experimenting with that as a medium too. I'm intending expand the range of home printed stuff too - I hope to start doing some locos too - for about one third of the cost of the Shap...

Gerry - I'm so sad to hear this. Hope you are feeling OK with the opiates . Have had several health scares myself this last year or so( 5 so far now), but luckily all mine have turned out to be just scares - can't even imagine what you are going through. Axleboxes

After being unobtainable for a while due to Shapeways changing their minds about what will print I've got round to fixing the Hudson axleboxes for Gn15 I do http://shpws.me/IA1L - They have increaed slightly in price but I still think are good value at 50 cents each ! We had some discussions on here...

Apparently there was ! Have changed it to 25 now

At the size of those pictures we can store 2,000,000 - think this will probably be enough.

Re: 1:12n7.5" Barrel Cars

Eventually yes, we will run out of storage, but we have about 200Gb available. A typical photo is about 1mb so we have space for around 200 x1000 = 200,000 of them. I suspect that by the time we do use it all, it will have gone cheaper again and we will be able to buy more for the same money. Either...

Re: 1:12n7.5" Barrel Cars

The problem with posting guides on how to do these things is that they constantly decide to "improve" the platforms and change the way you need to do it. Over at NGRM online they have a set of guides which might help http://ngrm-online.com/forums/index.php?/forum/37-help-guides/ Note thoug...

Re: Tebee´s Shapeways Designs

Some time ago, clumsy fool that I am, I dropped one of my original Gn15 Skip chassis on the floor and , in going to pick it up, managed to step on it with all my 100kg or so of weight. It bent the pinpoint ends of the axles , but did not break ! These have sold, but not in huge numbers, probably abo...

Re: 18in gauge on 24mm track

I think having weight and having it low down matters less in these larger scales - The reason I originally went with 3d printed wheels was because I couldn't get the right pattern for these - 5 cast spoke on a flat solid disk. I'd probably go for Binne wheels if I was making a production run of thes...

Re: 18in gauge on 24mm track

There is an existing Gn15 version already - this was an enlargement of it - In fact I've now got 5 Gn15 versions ! At Shapeways I do it in 1:24 and 1:27.5 scales each in two versions. For WSF I do them in one piece, but for FUD it to be three like this one as otherwise there is not enough flexibilit...
