 Don't worry. If you are going to motorise the switch with something like, say, a Tortoise motor, then you are probably better off without the spring. The spring gives you a snap throw, without the spring you get a smooth throw with the motor.

There is a little plastic 'box' over the top of the spreader bar. Lever that off with a small screwdriver, and there should be a v shape metal spring there. The spring works on the 'over centre' principle... it holds the rail to one side. As you push the rails across, the spring compresses as it goe...

 Keep getting invites? .... I don't get invites, I invite myself :!: Indeed, hiding a layout is the best course of 'semi retirement'. I've got a 4 module display layout (that I designed to set up/take down single handed in 10 minutes) that was last displayed 6 years ago. I announced its 'reti...

Best Before Date

8) I have just spent the weekend exhibiting Haywards (amongst other things) at the Masterton show, and three weeks ago, at Taupo. I've searched the layout high and low, but can't find the Best Before Date. I've got to the stage where I do not intend any additions to the layout, just a quick vacuum b...

Last rights have been performed, I'll leave it to Paul to do the final honours. Just prior to the 'onward departure', there was an attempt to exterminate the combined efforts of those of us gNatterboxers from Wellington at the Taupo Show. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/Gavin_Sowry/016_zpsd1...

My wife is very tactful with these people, when they start on their spiel she just says "it's none of your b****y business" and hangs up. :? I find it frightfully rude hanging up on people... I just say, "hang on a moment", then leave the phone off the hook, but have the decency...

The N.M.R.A. conventions would be a great place to show my Gn15 display, once it actually exists. If only I could afford to take part in these venues. I belong to a HO HOn3 club with 18 members in the historic town of Deadwood, SD. I am also building a home layout in HO standard gauge. This gives m...

:( Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a bit disappointed now in the frequency, and content, of Scrapbook. I paid good money, when they asked, to keep it going.

This is what I'm getting at... layouts with nice dropsheets, no creases, or unsightly folds, and, no drawing pins! I think the message is getting through over here.

Just wondering if there's any news on the book/webpage/pdf? We did ask some guys for better resolution photos, but they have not been forthcoming. I'll wake Ben up, and get cracking on the project. Sort of slowed a bit, what with me going overseas, again, and Ben starting a family and setti...

Thanks guys; however you'll note that there are now only 7 Gnew layouts, one had already featured when I checked and the second was the same as another just added so I combined them.
