Looking forward to seeing pictures of the layout in it's current guise.

Plus it reminds me that I have a Flying Scotsman to cut up somewhere.

I've been watching this topic with interest. I think comparing 3D printing with resin models is like comparing paint with pencils, they both have advantages and disadvantages. Firstly forget about comparing quality. Admittedly I haven't seen a printed item in the flesh but as regards to resin and wh...

One of the jobs I've been meaning to do for quite a while now is lighting. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb75/jon-randall/Tetley%20Grange/temporary.jpg The inside light is an led strip and the bollard lights are 3mm leds. The bollard itself is a milkshake drinking straw and a plasticard cap whi...

Load bearing walls are often found in the middle of older houses with double inglenook fireplaces for a better warmth distribution throughout the house.

The fake chimneys I've seen are indeed GRP with clay brick-slips glued on. Once again the prototype copies the models

IIRC there was a discussion years ago on the here about some battery locos which had pantographs which were used to recharge the batteries rather than cables. This was probably to stop problems with cables and connections.

I don't see much of a problem as long as you can work with two or three systems. The USA and British systems use scale and gauge in the description. The European uses the scale and a letter which I assume denotes the gauge. I'll take a 0 gauge on 14mm track model representing a two-foot scale protot...

My job for the day was enjoyably spent shunting Blackhall Sidings for which had thankfully given me a deadline to finish off the Gnine wagons I'd had purchased a while back. Couplings were glued on as the first punters came through the doors  http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb75/jon-randall...
