The Middle Yard

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

The Middle Yard

Postby Jon Randall » Mon Feb 02, 2015 4:33 am

Thought it was time I started a gnew Gn15 layout, particularly as it is already booked into two or three shows this year already.

Track plan will be a simple 4-2-2 inglenook.

So far I've cut the baseboard out of a piece of insulation foam and reinforced the edges with duct tape.

Length is 980mm and maximum width is 375mm, that's a 12" rule included for a size comparison.

Any time someone builds a layout that isn't rectangular is fine by me. :D

Thanks everyone.

Well I came downstairs to a bit of a disaster as the tank tape on the inside curve had come away
Remembering the well known phrase "if it moves went it shouldn't- use tank tape" I extended the covering across both faces of the board. This I shall leave on top of the radiator overnight to check it in extreme temperatures.

I also checked the track layout with paper plans for buildings etc. Ignore the details, apart from the board (fingers crossed) it is only temporary.
