Grandt Line Helical Gears

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

Grandt Line Helical Gears

Postby Fr. Tavernier » Sat Jan 21, 2017 11:02 am

Hi Guy's,

First of all, Happy New Year, Good Health and Happiness!

I'm in search for a new project (Yes, I come back to the hobby), helical gears from Grandt Line (Bronze and steel Helical gears) as the photo attached :

Unfortunately, this production no longer seems available! I think it was 64DP gears, but not sure...

I found this cross box from PSC, but the gears are now brass only...

If someone here has an idea or has to sell...

Thank you so much!

Franck
That's all folks!
Franck.

It might pay to Email GrandtLine as they have been helpful to me in the past in replacing lost or broken parts. Also check NorthWest Short Line as they have lots of gear stuff.

Hi David,

Thanks! Yes I emailed Grandt Line, but they don't answer for the moment...

I haven't found an equivalent from NWSL, and I'm not sure about DP, but I think it's 64DP...

David, I'm in search of the #7038 item... On the web site there is no price, it means that this gearbox is no longer produced, I asked them there is a certain time ....I renewed my request lately ...

Franck,
There are all sorts of helical gears and all manner of other interesting stuff on the HPC Gears website http://www.hpcgears.com. They have parallel and crossed helical gears. Not exactly cheap though and you will have to make your own gearbox. There's all sorts of bevel gears as well - anyone for a Shay?

Hi Steve thanks for your help!

Unfortunately there is no helical gear with nine teeth...Grrrrr! And no answer from Grandt Line...

So, I will be to use the brass helical gear in 64DP from PSC....
