James carriages

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

James carriages

Postby rowanb » Mon Jan 23, 2017 6:26 am

Being in dire need of some red carriages to run behind James, I decided to 'kit bash' a couple of G-scale Bachmann gons using OO rolling stock as a guide. The large scale gons were purchased at a large discount from my favorite spot to buy such items (in Texas).
I decided I would like a standard carriage, and a combined pass/horse car.
First step was to muck eeee mock-up to check for sizing/look etc.
Then today being 35 degrees (Celsius), was a good day to start the designs, cut out from matt-card and trial fit on the gons.
The gons have been left intact except for the handrails etc which will likely come in handy later...
Cheers
Rowan

'I cut it twice and it's still too short!'
