Robin’s simplicity sidings - reconstructed thread with photos

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

Robin’s simplicity sidings - reconstructed thread with photos

Postby PeterH » Sat Nov 18, 2017 8:22 pm

I liked Robin’s little layout and was sad when the photos fell victim to botophucket. I’d downloaded the photos and have posted them below, together with parts of the discussion.

The original thread is here: viewtopic.php?t=5621. The photos and words below are Robin’s:

I do all my building in cardboard (free from my local ALDI store),the textures are downloaded and possible I recess windows and doors, will post more pictures soon. Thanks for the welcome messages.

Les,the brick paper is straight from the printer and is from critter is U/ERNIE chassis with card board body from a Weetabix box.

Hi Steve the dimensions are 23 inches by 7 inches, the scenic section is 14.50 inches and the traverser 8.50 inches I included the traverser as the box used was this length ( ALDI again box for transporting grapes and a very strong and rigid box). The section with the traveser I hope to add a disused factory wall as I hope to extend to a second section at a later date. The front section between the boards and end wall where causing a bit of a problem but tonight have decided to make this a canal side wall,Simplicity Basin perhaps.

I am sorry if I misled you my locos are made from Weetabix packets and not Weetabix( they get too soggy when you paint them). I have reposted the picture you wanted to see ,I do not know why it was deleted.

Interests: used to model 7/8 scale but now am definitely hooked on GN15 as my only scale until now. G9 has appeared.
