Where should I post?

This forum is intended to cover modelling Gn15 or modelling tips which aren't scale or gauge specific (e.g. scenery). If your post is about a minimum gauge model in a scale other than Gn15 then either the GNine or Size doesn't matter forum is probably the best place for it. Similarly, if it's not a minimum gauge model then gNot Minimum Gauge seems like a good home.

Hello Emrys.
My son and I are new in to the forum although I was a member some years back.
We are both getting used to the gauge.
Son has built a couple of critters and we feel the correct place to post them is under Locos?
But we are not allowed to do this.
Pete

Hi Pete,
The Loco Shed is for use of the Mods - the place to post your locos is here, in Modelling Matters.

Hey Bill,
I am a great follower of your fantastically meticulous modelling and thanks for dropping your Flkr links.
I will show my son now exactly HOW you model with all and a number of materials.
What do you use for bolt heads and rivets in 1:24 scale?
Your models are awesome mate!
Just beautiful.
If I follow you, I cannot go far wrong.
Thanks Bill.
Pete.

Oh ..... and without having to buy expensive books with loco drawings, is there any way within the forum to buy just the drawings of a particular loco I wish to build?
Or must I bite the bullet?

Hi Pete - many thanks for your very kind comments. I get nut and bolt and rivet castings from Cambrian Models - http://www.cambrianmodels.co.uk/16intropage2.html

They are supposed to be for 16mm scale, but bolts and rivets come in all sorts of sizes ...

As for loco drawings - I use Google Images to search for what's online and often use photos as a basis for a 'working drawing'. Also, many preserved NG lines have web sites with useful info.

Hope this helps

Pete - I should have added that I make bolt heads from Plastruct hex rod - it comes in various sizes. I chop thin slices and attach with liquid poly which softens the edges a bit. I guess round rod slices would do for rivets ...
