The Little Big Oak RR

Postby Kerluk » Mon Jul 31, 2017 3:56 pm

Hello Happy taxpayers,
My Gnew Gnine layout project, The Little Big Oak RR, is now on the track...for better or worst !
As usual several rules apply:
#1: It's my layout and I do what I want
#2: I just want to have fun,
#3: I like roundy roundy layouts as I like watching trains go past,
#4: I hate ballasting. That's the reason why I choose Kato track,
#5: I'm not going for realism...but you already know that
And now, the big question: should I build a round (Ø 12") or a square (12"x12") baseboard ?
If I make it square I can put a backdrop on the backside.
I ordered two packs of N scale Kato curved track with a very tight radius (117 mm !),
one oak tree and two Bachmann Branch-Line railroad workers.
See you soon !

There's no rule to say you can't have a backdrop on a circular (or any shape) layout. It may even be better. :D

Cheers,

Infortunately I'll never get my crew. Hatton's made a mistake with my order  :
"I'm really sorry to say that while we believed that 22-176 Locomotive Crew was in stock at the time of ordering, when we have come to pick your order we have discovered that there were none on the shelf."
So I must work on a plan B...

That thing runs nice and slow. About the same speed as my Mallet chassis. Cool.

I'm thinking of using a few Lemax figures. I will need a new driver because the figures of Lemax and Bachmann are not really at the same scale. But is it really a good idea ? :?:
I'm waiting for all your advices. Thanks.

Nice. I suggest putting your camera down low and close to the track for a different look.
