Well, I've been a "visiting guest" at a rather nice art school that taught "Old Master's" painting techniques ... to the point that they stretched their own canvasses, covered them with rabbit skin glue (pan to Bugs Bunny running away) and primed them with white lead ... I do NOT have the "magic touch" or skills for this style of art ... but at least have a glimpse of how it's done! And always have had friends who are skilled in various arts ... another opportunity to look behind the scenes ...
Background in publishing, design, etc ... where "composition" is always an enjoyable challenge ...
Regarding the professors ... I may be incapable of "lucid" speech much of the time ... but I can always "babble incoherently" with the best of them!
Short version: I think I have some knack for design and composition ... happy to share my thoughts or ideas on a given item ... for what it's worth ... sometimes more useful than others!
PS -- Jon, count me among those who LIKE your sculpture ... last time I was in Paris, I skipped the Louvre and went to the Pompidou and Picasso museums multiple times ... think the piece is a great touch for the little layout.
