(F) Beach Road display -- O9

Postby Colin Peake » Sun Jul 01, 2007 8:27 pm

Some time ago Andrew Blackwell purchsed a diorama I had built (much to Mr Bennett's confusion  ), he then enquired whether I might be up for a commission. My initial thinking was a length of track, station platform, fence and a bench, but he came back to me requesting a 'best of... Shifting Sands'.

So the brief was for sand dunes, a level crossing (with cross hatching) and if possible some wire/stick dune fencing (yet to be installed on the layout itself). From that I produced a rough sketch which Andrew approved:

It is now complete, I think I've managed to pull it off...

It's due to be posted this week, so I had a quick photo session with some of the Shifting Sands fleet:

I no longer have it available for measurement, but I think it's about 4.5 x 12", but obviously quite deceptive in size!

For photography something deeper is called for, at least 9", possibly a little more. This was soon apparent when I took the photos last night. However the prime objective was for display rather than photos, it's designed so it would fit into a certain space!
