A scratch built loco

Postby Nevadablue » Wed Dec 16, 2015 4:37 am

I probably should have my Vanadium Mine thread moved here. I've decided to use a toy Christmas train loco as the chassis donor for the build. The track will also be used and is 1" gauge or two feet in my 1/24 layout.

Here is the loco as it sits. The crowd is discussing the owner's manual as well as the fact that none of them can stand up in the cab. Wiley says to hire short drivers.

The body is a mockup, it is paper. I'm using a paper kit as a pattern. Now that I know the scale will work, I'll build a styrene body using stuff that is on order.

No real progress on the build. But most of the material has arrived. I have another order of styrene and a bunch of glue and a scribing tool on the way yet. I have decided to modify the design a bit and add a small tender since the round trip from mine to refinery is about 60 miles. :D
