Tracks to the Trenches

Postby rue_d_etropal » Sun Aug 31, 2014 4:58 pm

Less than two weeks to what I consider one of the best events being organised for the WW1 commemoration.
For those who don't know Track to the Trenches is at Apedale country park, Staffordshire, organised by the Moseley Trust.
Just wondering who is going?
I am there with my layout, and so far have been very impressed with organisation. Passes and tickets have been received so no having to find someone to get first brew.
It will be a long weekend and to beat the M6 traffic I am going down early on the Thursday to set up. The doors open at 12 on Friday, and then all day, Saturday and Sunday. It will mean 4 trips there and back, but I think it will be worth it.
Hoping to have my 1/19th scale protected Simplex body in time, along with some 1/220 and 1/160 versions

I made sure I was free for the weekend when I first found out about it. As many of the Moseley people are Manchester based I have met some over the years.
Hopefully the weather will be good and not turn the park into a replica of Passchendaele, although it would be an even better test of rail's superiority over road!

Tick tock, nearly there. It promises to be a pretty special event IMHO.

Gnot been yet? You really should go, it's EXCELLENT. For those who can't get there the Moseley Trust blog has a bunch of photos, see here:

too late for anyone who did not get there, but they are thinking about similar(smaller?) events.
Next time I will have to find someone to go with me as I could then have a proper look around. Still managed to see a lot, that photo with Foden steam lorry was at end of day, just as I was leaving.
Lot of interest in my 3D printed models, especially as I now have versions for OO9. I am considering a way to pay something to Moseley Trust for each model sold.
