In latest issue (97) of NG&IRM Review in an article by Anders Runnholm he states that in a Swedish IKEA Store last Christmas he was told that they would no longer be offered - no date for withdrawal.

Typical

You find something really useful and the manufactures remove it from their range :!:

Was thinking of buying a few to start a modular layout, out here in the antipodes, but will now design my own system and get the lumber cut locally.

Might be more expensive but will be sure of a never ending supply.

no reason not to stock up on boxes. One advantage I have found is ease of transport and storage, especially after a few problems transporting my lightweight styrofoam based layout.

G'day Simon

no reason not to stock up on boxes.

Cost ?

They are half as much again, out here in the antipodes, compared with the UK.

Will just stick to my standard layout size (1.14m X 0.4m) for now.
I already have the stand and I know I can transport it.

I think that the cost here (Brum, UK) has changed...when I got mine it was about £13 plus a few quid p&p. Now they seem to have gone down to £11 but the p&p has gone up to £8!!!!

FWIW and it's really only of any use to me. The IKEA here in Minneapolis is still getting deliveries of APA boxes, including a shipment coming in this week.

Last time I checked postage rates for IKEA, it was based on weight, so you could get several items for same postage.
Have not seen any signs of withdrawal, but I always check stock levels before visiting stores.
I do have enough in shed to keep me going for a while. I took 2 down to France, for any project I start there. Currently working on a OO/HO pair of layouts using boxes, to demonstrate my 3D printed inset track.

Just checked IKEA online and they show NO stock. looks like they might have been withdrawn :(

still seems to be in stock in USA, but postage would be a bit high.
