Driving Creek Railway 10 inch gauge equipment

Want to talk about Sir Arthur Heywood's 15" gauge railways? About modern day minimum gauge lines? Have you found a minimum gauge line you've not seen mentioned on the website? Want directions to one of the railways that is mentioned? Whatever your interest in real minimum gauge lines, post your questions (and answer other modellers' questions) here.

Does anyone have or know where I could find photos or drawings of locomotives and rolling stock for the original 10.25 inch Driving Creek Railway? Thank you.
Denny D.

Hello Denny,

the Driving Creek Railway is 15 inch gauge. There was an article in NG & SL Gazette September October 1996. I think their Elephant was drawn up in Continental Modeller about 10 years ago.

I think that this is a model of what you are looking for.

Hi Geoff,

I'm reasonably sure that 'Elephant' was built for the current 15" line as opposed to the original 10 1/4". To my amazement I've even found a drawing of it, see here:

Denny

There is a chapter on the DCR 10" gauge railway, with photographs, in Barry Brickell's book "Rails towards the Sky" - David Ling Publishing, 2011, ISBN 978-1-877387-47-8

I have previously posted photos on the original 10 1/4 inch gauge DCR on this website after I visited the property it was built on (just down the road form the new DCR) and was amazed to find much of the line in place and even some rolling stock still sitting on track in a shed. I have photos and drawings for most of the existing baby DCR rolling stock and did the loco drawing based on numerous photos. Unfortunately everything is in storage in New Zealand

Thats my drawing. I did drawings of all current 15 inch rollingstock except the latest railcar Linx. They were all published in an article in New Zealand Model Railway Journal years ago and were reproduced on the original Gn15 Info website which I think has now disappeared.
