Still modelling Gn15 or just looking?

A general talking shop for any subject under the sun (even Monty Python). This would also be a good place to make suggestions about the site itself or about these forums (or "fora", if you're particularly pedantic).

Still modelling Gn15 or just looking?

Postby chris stockdale » Tue Nov 21, 2017 11:08 am

Hi guys,

Having a little look at the numbers of Gnatterbox members still involved I found it modestly heartening that some 200 members have signed in at some stage this year.

So, we might be a little quiet with regard to posts but at least there’s still interest out there.

Which made me wonder, if you’re OK to make a comment, are members still modelling in Gn15 or just looking?

Bestest,

Hi Stockers

Modelling but very slowly, due to time and skills restraints!

I'll get there in the end (I think)

I'm still modelling Gn15 with a new layout well under construction and doing modelling demonstrations at shows in Scotland every few months (Falkirk this coming weekend)

I’ve been looking for a few years; busy with other thinks. Work on my house is slowing and I’m modelling again.

Hi Chris, I am apparently active in this area again, after a sojourn of a little while from this form of modelling.

Still trying to do it properly ...

Not working on the layout at the moment, but building another Smallbrook 'Katie' kit as a spare loco, and relearning all the mistakes I made with the first one ...

Unfortunately at the moment it is just looking. Modelling (and firing on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways) is out of the window at the moment due to some rather trying personal circumstances :(
Hopefully things should be back to normal, whatever that is, before too much longer.

I tend to only model over Christmas, when work slows down. Just logged in for the first time in ages....had a search for my thread on my first GN15 layout...OMG it's three and a half years since I started it and nothing has been done for at least two years. Hopefully get some done over the next three weeks.

Still active in Gn15, but dabbling in other scale/gauge combos as the mood strikes.
I am working slowly on a layout based around the Ned Kelly bushranging legend in Australia. Slowly I am building up a stock of Smallbrook Gn15 Emett locos and kits for this, and building them equally slowly. I have a loose commitment to show the layout at the next ANGC at Easter 2019.
Just before Sidelines Gn15 became scarce I did a big order for locos and wagon kits. These are all built now, needing a bit of weathering and detailing but await a layout to run them on. Fortunately I enjoy building small layouts, so maybe the wait won't be too long.
