What Find in Scotland?

A general talking shop for any subject under the sun (even Monty Python). This would also be a good place to make suggestions about the site itself or about these forums (or "fora", if you're particularly pedantic).

What Find in Scotland?

Postby Zoange » Sat Jul 09, 2016 12:34 pm

This summer I go in holiday in Scotland, near Dundee.
Can you tell me, if it's something to see or "to buy" related to the narrow gauge, in this part of Scotland.
Sorry for my English, it is a computer translation

Hi Marc,

I thought your topic might be happier here in Blether.

Take a look at this website to find more info on narrow gauge railways all around the UK including Scotland.

One possibility as you head up or back from Dundee is the Almond Valley Railway at Livingston (just west of Edinburgh) - 2-foot 6 inch gauge with some ex-mod stock - I put some photos of it up a few years ago here : http://gn15.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9391

The other well known one is the Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway : http://www.leadhillsrailway.co.uk

If you fancy a miniature railway there is Kerr's Miniature Railway at Arbroath which is about half an hours drive from Dundee : http://www.kerrsminiaturerailway.co.uk/
