Hi guys and gals. My name is Peter D Spencer, known locally and in hyper space as Granddad Gnome. I picked up this nick name owing to the fact that I used to make garden gnomes as a side line to my main business of making concrete products for the building industry and also because I have written a book called Gnome Valley. As a keen garden railroader I started to research whimsical sites, (and found you), with the view to create a whimsical area of my garden railway. I want to portray the railway that may have been used by the gnomes in the manufacture and distribution of Gnomezade, a highly intoxicating liquor made from the waste products of Barley sugar pudding, which by the way is itself made from Barley Sugar ore mined by the gnomes of Yorkhampshire in upper middle earth. I have now completed a large G Scale railway in my garden and it is now time to start to put in place the scenic effects as written in the book. First, the mining complex complete with its own 15” narrow gauge railway system. This is to bring the mined ore out into the light and into the Pudding factory. I would also like to model a cut away section showing the underground workings of the mine. As I have, over the last 6 years or so, had server heart problems it may well be a while before I can get some serious modelling done. I will start by uploading photos of the railway as it looks so far.

Welcome Peter - you'll not be entering your layout in the shoe-box challenge, then?

You have quite an empire there - how long have you been building it?

I have been building on and of for about 8 years now, in between bouts for illness. I think now is the time to start modeling in the shed and taking the modeled pieces outside to the spot that they are designated to

Welcome Peter.

That is a massive instalment you have there.

Speaking of Gnomes, I seem to remember a Gn15 layout on this group about Gnomes. It was based around a pottery factory, who made Gnomes. And they got transported between the making shed, the drying shed and the painting shed. Or something like it. I'll see if I can find it.
