very gnice.
pity it is mk2 version as that limits it to post 1978.
does seem to be a resurgence in 1/24 scale vehicle kits.

The Italeri kit is a reissue of the old ESCI kit. A search around the web shows some very well done conversions including this one to a drop side body : http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?s=faca3e4fbf2706cdff4644b9c1997297&showtopic=6729&view=findpost&p=228531

I'll see if my local shop has one in stock next time I'm in town as I can see it being an ideal kit for a Gn15 layout as they were everywhere in the UK from 1978 to the early 90s.

A bit of an oddball version though - it has the rare hatchback type lifting rear door, instead of the much more common twin doors, and side access doors on both sides - still I suppose that makes it easier to cover to RHD.

Who knew I was a Transit geek too?

One idea I had would be for a forestry railway like the Romanian ones, were they use transits converted to run on track. Italeri do have a tendency of picking odd versions of models. When they did the Quonset hut in 1/72 they picked probably the least common and certainly the least successful version with corrugations lengthways, and as a resukt made the reduced the market for the kit.
