New Heywood books coming

Postby chris stockdale » Sat Mar 02, 2019 8:02 am

I’ve just spotted this bit of info from RCL Publishing on a narrow gauge modelling forum:

‘I'm currently working on a two volume set covering the work of Arthur Heywood and 15 inch gauge. The first volume The Duffield Bank and Dove Leys Railways is already started and we hope to publish late Summer. Volume two will be entirely devoted to Eaton Hall. The author, Heywood expert James Waterfield, has built full size replica Heywood locos and has a fine collection of Heywood memorabilia - plus access to family albums so there are images in this new work that have never appeared in print before. Plus, those images that we are familiar with are being re-processed from original prints, not copies - so will offer far more in the way of information than before. To add to this, pretty much every loco and item of rolling stock (even the Dove Leys 'pedal trolley') will be the subject of finely detailed drawings.’

Time to start saving...

Volume 1 of "The Railways of Sir Arthur Percival Heywood" covering the Duffield Bank and Dove Leys railways has been announced on the back of Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review issue 120. 300 plus pages, over 250 photos, 40+ scale drawings plus diagrams maps and plans, price to be announced.
It is on my Christmas present list - just need to convince my wife that I need another book after the load I got for half price in the Ian Allan closing down sale in September!

Mike Decker, who did the drawings for the book, says the latest info he has is that it goes to the printers at the beginning of November.
