Tillig Luna tram track in UK

Postby rue_d_etropal » Mon Feb 10, 2014 9:52 am

Just had an email from Ontracks to say they are importing the Tillig Luna tram track range. I had previously managed to get a couple of the points from company called Conrad which deals mainly in electronics and I think is based in Germany.
The Tillig Luna range covers both 16.5mm and 12mm gauge. It isn't cheap, and in some ways not of highest quality using a rolled steel(?) rail rather than a proper rail profile. It would need thought as to how to connect it to other rail track but I think I could do that. Another problem is that the stone setts are only printed not molded. The old Hartel range was a lot better something is better than nothing(one reason I am designing my own inset track range).
It is the 12mm gauge range that interests me and no-one has been importing this into UK up till now.

I had found this company in Germany selling it

OnTracks have the full range listed but say they have to order it in, so there is no certainty they can get it and how long it will take. I noticed that on the German shop there were some items not listed as I assume they only list items in stock. Pity as their prices in euros work out slightly cheaper.
I am interested because I am thinking about that internal hospital railway in Canada. A lot of mental hospitals were used in WW1 as conventional military hospitals so looking at an idea using 12mm gauge to represent 15in gauge in 1/35 or 1/32.
Radius is 25cm and 20cm, so not as tight as some might want but small enough to fit in a small display.

Narrow gauge Francophile interested in 1m, 60cm,50cm , 40cm and smaller gauges . Build in scales from 1/6th to 1/24th. Also 1/32nd and 1/35th using 16.5mm track to represent 50cm and 60cm gauges.
