Meeting - 12th November '08

Postby Dave Westall » Thu Oct 16, 2008 12:40 pm

Greetings GnOrfolkonians

No October meeting due to circumstances outwith this Group but plenty of warning for the next!
This has been delayed by 1 week to allow Jon to take his Rug-rats to the annual cremation of the dummy

Usual place and usual time courtesy of our usual hosts, Ralph and Janet.
Big thanks in advance to them both.

Dave
May your wheels never rust.

Hope to make it (all things being equal) I doubt I'll have anything to show though, such is the way things are going at the moment.

I should be there, I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't be. I hope to have some more G12 stuff built by then too if the loco and wagons I've ordered ever arrive that is...

OK, we all Gneed to be at the Gathering because we have a challenge........ :D

Details and item to be built around (supplied by me, don't panic) will be revealed at the gathering. Once the challenge is revealed to the assembled masses  I will start a Gnew Topic on the forum so the progress can be tracked :D :D

Ooh sounds like fun, in other news I should definitely have a new loco and wagons to show off at the meeting as the TT stuff I ordered arrived today and I plan to start work over the weekend (when not watching the grand prix obviously). :D

Oh dear, I assume that's the group photo that you and Jon sent me to take part in, rather than trust me with the layouts.

It's Gnot that we didn't trust you with the layouts Nick, it was more like you were the most photogenic out of all of us......

More incentive to have something up and running for next year!

I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not and I will have something to operate provided I remember to get the wood I need to build the baseboard, I've already got everything else I need bar a few scenic bits and pieces.

Sounds interesting Barry.
I'll try and bring St Sithney's along, I've done quite a bit to it but as my computer is down at home I can only spend a couple of minutes on the works computer every few days.
It could be a couple of weeks till I'm back online properly

Thanks to Gerry's eagle eyes and his "recycling" abilities, I have a car load of foamcore to distribute to all assembled at the gathering :D

Thanks again Gerry :D

A challenge and some foamcore, you're spoiling us Barry.

One slight bit of bad news from me, due to university work getting in the way (how dare it!) I may not have much in the way of models to bring along, I will bring the work in progress simplicity clone and a couple of legnths of 12mm flexitrack though so we can at least run the G12 stuff I brought along last time.

I may have another loco built by next week but I'll be surprised if I have anything other than a chassis with a few random lumps of plasticard stuck to it. :(

Apart from some "cheque book modelling", I have achieved absolutely nothing in the modelling stakes :( So you're one ahead of me already Nick!

You really set us a puzzler yesterday Barry, I'm glad we've got plenty on time to think about how we're going to use the item provided.

Thanks to Ralph and Janet for last night's hospitality.
Various levels of craziness were on show last night. 8)
Thanks to Barry for the challenge item, erm, still not sure what I'm going to do yet.
Thankyou Gerry for the foam card recycling.
