Belle Lane - "Little Andi"

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

Belle Lane - "Little Andi"

Postby Carlo » Thu Dec 13, 2018 5:11 pm

Does anyone else remember fondly this thread about building in card, by a chap going as "Little Andi"?
It was back in '09 I believe. Mike Mott did an article in the "Gn15 Tome" about him too.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5199&start=50

I was just wondering what became of him. He's a great model builder,
and I hope he's still doing great things.

Yes, I enjoyed his modelling too. The chappie has posted since 2009 on the Westlake forum as Andi Little. He seems to have gone to the dark side - model aircraft, boats ...

Yes, but he hasn't posted there since 2016.
I would love to see what he has been up to lately...

Hello all - kind of you guys to remember me. Gordon popped up on one of my feeds and let me know ... unfortunately when I trotted over to say "Hello" I couldn't log in. No amount of tries or combinations would do it. I tried resetting my password to no avail, couldn't contact anyone for lack of a log in - admin' didn't respond and until just now I couldn't even re-register. No matter now though, all's well it would seem?
I haven't had time yet for a look round properly yet but I'm concerned at the lack of apparent whimsy  8)

Well, that’s a blast from the past. Are you still modelling? Are you posting on the internet? I often look over your card building photos for inspiration.

Hey Peter, Yes, I'm still around - and still modelling ... sort of? I must admit to being tempted away from Gn15, and I honestly couldn't tell you why. I think something caught my eye and by the time I looked up again, I'd kind of drifted over the horizon. Still have all the gear I collated though, Belle Lane sits forlorn and untouched on a top shelf somewhere - it's various parts spread around the house.
I have I must admit been spending a lot of time on FB recently, mostly because it's just easier to keep in touch with a lot of my old modelling chums - I did tumble over Michael Mott last year sometime - we chatted a while and then moved on as you do.
And I still hanker after that little Railway to keep me occupied, but lately, a work project has really gotten in the way of my modelling aspirations and so things have been shelved yet again - such is the way of it lately!!!

All the best to you and yours - and anyone else who remembers those far off hazy days?

Cheers all - Andi

I agree - not enough whimsey. It was the whimsical that brought me back to modelling.
And the Gnatterbox seemed a good place to be.
I am just not getting around to building baseboards and doing wiring because it has to be exact and done properly if it is going to work. I do exact and detail at work - not so good at it at home!

HaHa - smashing - I do remember you and your modelling. If I remember rightly there was quite a few of us back in the day that really championed whimsy. I also remember a couple of pitched battles when some folk started cutting up rough about scale fidelity and the like - well we saw them off pretty sharpish if I recall.

I don't remember these. but they are great.
What is 'scale fidelity' anyway?

Whimsy? - I see exactly the correct number of rivets and a mechanism that just could work :D

Hey Guys ...... I'm back, I mean officially. Contacted Chris' who has sprinkled around some Pixie dust, and it seems my initial self is now back amongst the land of Gn15 ... a HAPPY place for my head.
I can't promise to immediately start to rebuild Belle Lane or fix the electrics I could never get working quite right. But the whimsy it is still upon me, and I need somewhere as marvellous as this in order to calm my soul ............................... So, a hearty "HELLO" to all those that remember me, and especially to those that don't!!!
KBO .......................... Andi.
