I've used (and will continue since I still have some in stock) the Italieri figures extensively. Apart from being easy to modify and assemble because they are plastic, the limbs, heads, hats etc are interchangeable so a variety of figures can be made even without modification. The main problem with them as far as I am concerned is that most of them wear glasses - presumably meant to be sun protection. This makes the faces a bit samey since I haven't yet plucked up the courage to resculpt eye sockets. (You can see pictures of my figures in my Railway Modeller article on Matthews Corner or pictures that appear on a variety of private web sites.)

In fact, some of the Preiser heads from their seated people pack will fit, I know because my Lister driver is the Italeri seated figure with a Preiser head! My main gripe with the Italeri figures is that some of the moulding is very heavy, but some careful work with filler and knife pays dividends...

I've rescuplted and refined the bodies of the Italieri figures fairly extensively but I hadn't thought of using Preiser heads. I'll look into that. Thanks Colin. I'm not building anything GN15 at the moment but a look at my Blether thread entry on future plans will reveal that it's not impossible that I will be doing so again soon. Other heads may therefore find themselves on Italian bodies.

I don`t think Andrew was refering to Preiser heads, I suspect he was meaning his own range of fantastic figures that are sold with separate heads and arms so you can position them yourself, they are really good figures with excellent detail, Sometimes Andrew you have to use a hammer when you think just a gentle tap is needed |

Hi all,
A hot tip for anyone using Schleich figures...
Give them a swim in boiling water for about a minute, bend arms legs etc to the new pose requred and then dunk them in cold water to lock in their new pose.
So far it appears to work without any bad effects on paint etc _________________ John Garaty

Top Tip John, worked a treat
Before
After
Interesting, if you put it back into the boiling water, it goes back to original form again. I guess you can reshape as many times as you like, will have to get some more to play with . Just a shame the hot water doesnt shrink them aswell not that I mind 1:20 scale for my 7¼" gauge, just right in fact. _________________ Steve Bennett

I'll have to try that - I have the pack horse and man. I might be able to separate them and make the rope the man should be holding hang straight down.
They're a little large, but cheap and I really like the 'wild west' feel to them The Conesta wagon looks fantastic too, too big for the layout though _________________ George |

Does anyone know a good source of 1:29 scale figures, or have pictures of the Aristocraft ones?

Aristocrft figures, at least those I have from that maker, are not 1 / 29th.
They are more like 1 : 24/25
The fellow laying in front of the group and the man with lantern in the middle are Aristo´s.
As far as I know, there is not maker of 1/29th figures yet.
Have Fun

I was at Toys R Us and found they have many
action figure lines that are about 1/24....including
some of the Worldwide Wrestling ones. Throw a
different outfit on them and they're ready to go !!!
