(F) Saga of a Tom Yorke Gn15 "Iris" Kit

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

(F) Saga of a Tom Yorke Gn15 "Iris" Kit

Postby Carlo » Tue Jul 19, 2011 4:48 pm

(Edited by Jeff Saxton, January 29, 2013. This post was too good to delete from the Trade tittle-tattle forum).

Carlo had offered the kit for sale, and KEG bought it, and detailed his changes to the kit.

This kit was once offered by Tom Yorke. It was designed to be used on a Fleischmann Magic Train "steam-outline" loco.

It reached the KEG workshop some days ago. A very amusing puzzle:

Does somebody have a set of instructions or a picture of a finished loco?
I asked Thomas A. Yorke, but did not get an answer.

Isis, the granddaughter of the owner of the KEG, asked, why there is a clown's nose mounted to the boiler:

OK, I spray everyting in gray tomorrow or someday. The old cab will be dumped down the next hill or get scrapped.

It seems, I am getting a completely different loco from the parts which landed in my workshop:

Tried HF-couplings (Heeresfeldbahn) on the loco. It is almost 140mm long now with the couplings.

IRIS got 2 Lipo-cells in the kettle and a Deltang receiver under the cab now. JL Toeffelholm is responsible for the tiny electronic stuff in Kraehwinkel.

The latest Generation of Deltang receivers can be switched off or on by a magnetic reed-contact. I use either a Harry Potter magic want or one of those telescope magnets, which older or lazy Pentangue players use to pick up their equipmet from the ground.

We contacted Mr. Yorke some days ago. The molds still exist and he can supply parts to those, who want them.

Have Fun
